View Royal BC is rich in heritage with some of the oldest buildings. Most noteworthy are two historic landmark pubs: Four Mile House and Six Mile Public House. View Royal is know for its thriving arts community.
View Royal became a municipality in 1988. This Gateway between the growing West Shore municipalities and Victoria’s Urban Center has become a thriving community. This area is served by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Waste disposal is done on a private basis and areas within the township are protected by a tree-cutting bylaw.
Parks and Recreation
You’ll find many recreational opportunities here – both indoors and out. The Town has over 700 hectares of parkland and encompasses McKenzie, Pike, Prior and Thetis Lakes; and portions of Esquimalt Harbour and Portage Inlet. The Capital Regional District’s well-utilized Galloping Goose Trail traverses the Town. It is also a member of the West Shore Parks and Recreation Society ; swimming pool, weight room, soccer fields, a nine hole par three golf course and organized classes and programs.
